The future US army armoured vehicle

The US Army has awarded two $28 million contracts to BAE Systems Land and Armaments (nope, it's not the land of cute girls & guns) and General Dynamics Land Systems to design a study design about the Future Fighting Vehicle (FFV).

Both companies have until 28th of Novemeber of next year to propose the concept designs, engineering plans, requirement plan, model simulation and technology development studies.

The man characteristic of this program is not desigining a new combat vehicle but developing technological solutions applicable to Bradley combat vehical, which is the vehicle to be substituted, although companies are free to propose complete new designs.

It is the nth try of Army to design a new terrestrial combat vehicle, after Future Combat System (FCS) and Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) were cancelled. They fell into too large ambition and financial problems.
