Medical evacuation, or MEDEVAC is a patient transfer system from a remote location to a specialized hospital, usually in the military. MEDEVAC The term is usually applied to an air vehicle, an airplane or a helicopter used as an ambulance, sometimes called an 'air ambulance'.

This allows the rapid transport of seriously injured persons, particularly trauma patients, from the scene of an accident to a specialized hospital.
