6 airsoft essential safety mesaures airsoft

Ragnos Airsoft returns to the fray with an article in which we have six things we can do to avoid accidents and frights in our airsoft games.

1. Protect your eyes.

The main precaution we must take is to protect the eyes as a shot even at very low power can seriously damage the cornea and retina causing permanent blindness. We will use goggles. Protective eyewear should be kept placed inside and outside the field, whenever there replicas out of their boxes. It is extremely important not to remove his glasses at any time, although fogging. It is a serious breach of the rules of most fields and grounds for expulsion! It is preferable retire as dead removed his glasses.

In any case, to protect them from any kind of impact we need a special kind of spectacle:

The glasses should cover any entrance angle of a projectile because, as we said, can come from any direction due to rebounds or any other circumstances.

The glasses should be approved. Specifically should follow the European rules "EPI-89/686 / EEC (EN166)" or the American standard "ANSI Z87.1". Fortunately in most airsoft stores all spectacles meet this requirement. In this way we ensure that the glasses have enough to withstand high velocity impact resistance. Don't even think playing with sunglasses or ski. It would not be the first time in front of a test to 550FPS glasses that seemed safe flying into pieces.

The glasses must have strap as otherwise due to the nature of the game is in action easier than falling or glasses we move from place leaving gaps. It would not be the first time we see someone fall into the field and lose his glasses.

The Spanish Federation of Airsoft (Chapter 3, page 6) only recommends the use of safety goggles and warns of the danger of pin wear glasses. We do not recommend the use of goggles or mask grid without lens, because as mentioned, occasionally the ball can break upon impact.

2. Protects mouth and teeth.

Second, we must protect especially the mouth and teeth. It is not indispensable to play airsoft as eye protection is required, but from our experience it is highly recommended caution. In Ragnos we saw teeth broken by the impact of a ball even over long distances. To protect the area from the mouth recommend using mouth masks grid, which can deform and shape the face and also protect nose, ears and neck. It is especially recommended for close combat and CQB. There are also other options, such as neoprene masks that serve the same function, although to a lesser extent protect impact.

Military event simulation, where these types of protection are not aesthetically appropriate, recommend simple tooth protection as used for combat sports you can find easily in sports shops and a very affordable price.

3. Protect head and hands.

Also, to avoid painful head impacts, we can wear a helmet. This will also prevent us fools blows against ceilings, branches, etc which usually occur during combat. This option is considered as an additional and often responds to aesthetics rather than functionality. Also, gloves serve to prevent scratches on your hands and are useful for climbing easily and avoid painful impact on the fingers.

4. Use only permitted explosives.

Regarding the use of such devices claymore mines, pressure mines and grenades recommend using those that do not contain pyrotechnics and mechanically or by gas triggered. The use of fireworks can cause burns and lead to severe injury should explode at close range and most fields do not allow these devices because, in addition, they are prone to cause fires. Various models of gas grenades useful for combat simulation with good dose as the drive is identical with the actual fuse and pin as, for example, Granada Thunder B.

5. Respect the shooting distance.

Remember the use of the powers allowed by most fields and federations. Since replicas fire projectiles at high power, always keep a safe distance and use a secondary replica if we shoot within that distance. It would not be the first time we see a ball embedded in the ear of a fellow for not respecting the distances.

It is recommended death by voice respect for the opponent if we are at a distance of less than 3 meters from the opponent and this has not noticed our presence. Other players prefer to use a knife or bayonet flexible plastic for simulation. Remember that in the fields of airsoft any white weapon is not allowed (to avoid confusion) and that this rule death voice does not apply in most fields inside or CQB because fighting is always short distance.

6. Finally as a last recommendation especially for beginners…

Keep always your finger to the side and off the trigger! Besides avoiding frights -the experience shows, it gives a much more professional and people will stop calling you newbies when you see the photos of your group.
