The Mk 23 is a gun that was created for the special forces of the USSOCOM but that has gained fame in in airsoft with replicas like those of Tokyo Marui and KSC. Great accuracy, a very good range and, in the case of the Japanese brand, an extremely silent shot, made it the secondary of many airsofters and an essential among 6 mm snipers.

But what if we wanted to use it as a main replica gun? The scope would be necessary, stealth would be a good asset, but its manoeuvrability falls short of SMG or rifles. Or at least until now, because SRU has created a kit designed to solve it. And when testing it, we verify that it is not a purely aesthetic issue, but that every detail has been thought to improve gameplay, something that is only achieved when there are airsofters behind a project.

CQB mode Vs Stealth mode

The kit allows two handguard configurations; in the longest we will use the gun with silencer (hence its name stealth mode) and in the shortest we will dispense with it, prioritizing manoeuvrability over stealth, something we appreciated when playing in CQB.

Stock

With this kit we test once again the extra precision you gain when firing with the stock, being telescopic it has three regulation points to better fit our size, and being a 3D printing production of professional standards, it offers amazing resistance.

RIS for accessories

If the real Mk 23 already had the Insight Technology laser as standard, or in the case of the flashlight module replicas, this kit extends that RIS and adds one at the top so we can set it up it with sights, flashlights, AN/PEQs or whatever we need, making our “gun” game much more complete.

Assembly

The kit is assembled very easily if you follow the steps indicated by the manufacturer in the instructions, allowing us to recover the gun quickly if we want to use only as a gun. Now, it is always better to make sure that the hop is well regulated before mounting it in the kit because once inside we will not be able to do so.  Also in the KSC and KWA replicas we must disassemble the rear sight of the pistol to mount a cocking lever, an additional step which is actually very simple to perform.

Extramagazine

It doesn't matter if you play with the 26-BB magazine of KWA, KSC or Y&P, or the 28-BB magazine of TM or STTI, the capacity will fall short once you start shooting. But they have also thought of that, and that is why the design includes a space, which will also serve us as a grip, for a second magazine. Fast reloads make your almost double your autonomy. It has a screw that regulates the force with which the magazine is attached, allowing to find the perfect fit to recharge quickly and that the magazine does not fall out if we run or jump around.

Conclusion

Is TM’s Mk23 the quietest gun on the market? Many say so. Can you reach 75 meters with an Mk. 23? Youtubers have proven so. Was there anything else left for this model to offer? Yes, well, at least until SRU manufactured this kit. Where they just lucky to incorporate all these features? Yes, as long as we consider the sum of experience, R&D, hard work and testing on the playing fields mere luck.
