Hearing protection is very important among operators due to the damage caused by the sound of shots being fired, grenade explosions, breaches and other detonations. That is why they wear headsets that, in addition to maintaining effective communication with the rest of their team, offer them electronic noise cancelling. And although the decibels we reach with our “airsenal” is not as high in airsoft, Z-TAC offers similar gear, bringing together the most used designs among operators with the latest noise cancelling technology they have developed.

ID101  (Z-TAC)

· This headset is specially designed for firearm shooters, where communication is not as sought after as electronic noise cancellation.

· It has the new sixth generation motherboard, recently developed by the brand, for greater noise reduction and more reliable sound capture.

 · By pressing the two buttons on the right earmuff you can turned it on and off (the bottom in the middle is a dummy), and by pressing them individually you can adjust the volume to six different levels.

Available colours: BK/BK custom/MC custom

· It is powered by two AAA batteries that go in the left earmuff. They are secured with a clip, so you won't need any tool to change them during the game.

· The headset housings are interchangeable so you can change its appearance, within the possibilities of the brand catalogue, and avoid having to buy a headset of each colour.

· The headband is made of plastic but with a rubber coating that makes it more comfortable to wear.

· While the length of the headband is fixed, the arches that hold the headphones (in the style of a well-known brand of northern Minnesota) allow us to adjust the length of the headset a few centimetres to improve the sealing of our ear.

ZH152 CII + Tactical Helmet Rail Adapter Set (Fast version)

ZH153 CII + EX Helmet Rail Adapter Set (Wendy versión)

· This model is probably one of the best known in airsoft due to the popularity of its real counterpart in recent conflicts where we have seen it in action in the hands of a wide variety of North American units.

· This headset can be found in two versions:

4ZH152: ZH041 CII military version of tactical headset + Z147 helmet headset holder (version with anchor for Fast type helmets)

ZH153: ZH041 CII military version of tactical headset + Z149 helmet headset holder (version with anchor for Wendy type helmets)

Available colours: BK/DE/SG

· It has the volume controls on the right side and yet they still work with the walkie without batteries, since they are used for the ambient sound control system and aren’t necessary to listen to the radio.

· They work with two AA batteries, one in each earmuff on the outside of the headset, which enables a quick battery change.

ANCHORS

This review has anchors for two types of helmets: Team Wendy Exfil type with LTP 2.0 rails and Ops Core FAST type with ARC rails. They are not compatible with each other but both allow you to install headsets easily and without tools. The point of this is that you will not wear the headband inside the helmet when playing, one less thing that will squeeze our head, and when taking off the helmet. Although there is something that both systems share, and it is that you can wear them not fully on the ears (they have two proximity positions) and that we can rotate them to leave our ears free, either to listen to the ambient sound or to rest.

ZH154 CIII + Tactical Helmet Rail Adapter Set (Fast version)

ZH155 CIII + EX Helmet Rail Adapter Set (Wendy versión)

· The CIII is the evolution of the CII, a model that also has a real counterpart signed by the same Minnesota company. The easiest way to distinguish them, since their design is very similar, is that this model does not have the recess in the centre of the headset case; it is a smooth surface.

· At a practical level, the CIII includes two novelties, the first is that, in this model, you can disconnect the microphone to anchor it in the other handset so that it does not bother you if, for example, you are left-handed. The second is the buttons to control the audio output, which have been oversized to make it easier to locate and operate them even while wearing gloves.

· This headset can be found in two versions:

4ZH154: ZH041 CIII military version of tactical headset + Z147 helmet headset holder (version with anchor for Fast type helmets)

Available colours: BK/DE/CB/FG

ZH155: ZH041 CIII military version of tactical headset + Z149 helmet headset holder (version with anchor for Wendy type helmets)

· They work with two AAA batteries, one in each earmuff on the outside of the headset, which enables a quick battery change.

ZH156 zSordin Headset (G:2 Military Version) + Tactical Helmet Rail Adapter Set (Fast version)

ZH157 zSordin Headset (G:2 Military Version) + EX Helmet Rail Adapter Set (Wendi version)

· The real counterpart of this headset is manufactured by one of the reference companies on the market, which is based in Pittsburgh (USA) and can be found in numerous photos of different special forces units.

· Its finer profile stands out, a feature appreciated by larger heads (we speak from experience) and that comes with three buttons, the central on and off button (functional this time) and two volume control, one to each side.

· They are so comfortable to wear that they respond perfectly fine even in the heat of the game and with gloves.

· The anchoring system of the headphones is different from the previous ones and can’t be adjusted, although it is located at the right height when mounted on the helmet by default.

· This headset can be found in two versions:

4ZH156: ZH111 Sordin military version of tactical headset + Z148 helmet headset holder (version with anchor for Fast type helmets)

ZH157: ZH111 Sordin military version of tactical headset + Z150 helmet headset holder (version with anchor for Wendy type helmets)

· It carries two AAA batteries on the right side with a screw cap. They fit without problem, to get the one at the bottom you will need a lot of patience.

Available colours: BK/DE/FG

Grenades are thrown in the room and gas replicas start to fire, however the ears of the attackers, protected their headsets, make them immune to explosions. While they clearly hear one after the other shouting: "Clear", "all clear!". Sometimes technology alone is not enough to win, but it's always better to have it on your side.
