BARRETT SNIPER RIFLE

The role of sniper in the world of airsoft is a highly desired one. Hide, remain patient and kill with one shot, move and hide again... It is a feeling that few can experience at its highest level, providing cover for your team and turning the tables in your favour.

We are aware that it is not an easy role to start with or even when you have been in the hobby for a while, but things are always easier when you have a replica like this BARRETT FIELDCRAFT rifle licensed by EMG, manufactured by APS.

The full range

This rifle model can be found with a black or silver barrel and in a combination of six different body colours that range from plain colours to our favourite camouflage patterns.

And as per how it works, it has a spring, CO2 or Top Gas version as in this case. Regardless of the model we choose, the design of the different versions are identical since the gas is housed in the external barrel, making the magazine common to all.

Manufacture of the bolt

The internal parts of the gas bolt are made of CNC stainless steel, in fact, thanks to the precision in its construction, APS tells us that they have not needed to open new moulds for the CO2 version, which always makes the final product more expensive.

Zero Trigger

The use of the Zero Trigger system for the trigger allows us to be able to add upgrades much easier due to its compatibility with all VSR-10 type parts. The block is completely made of metal which makes it very strong and durable. It has a 90º piston clamping system and improves the problems that other triggers on the market have.

Safety

These versions (top gas and CO2) have a physical safety on the outside, above the trigger, which will allow to minimize accidental shots. A system that, according to the manufacturer, is new on the market and that cannot be found in other CO2 rifles, and that emphasizes APS's concern for the safety of its products.

Gas load

The loading valve is located at the bottom of the external barrel and is only visible if the magazine is removed. In fact, due to its position, the top gas version includes an extender so that the gas tanks can be used directly.

Smooth shot

Both in the top gas version and in the CO2 version, compared to the spring version, the locking of the replica is much easier and faster. In addition, the shot is way more precise since the spring is much softer and therefore generates much less vibration than the spring version.

Performance

The performance of the replica depends largely on the type of gas that used. With 0.20 g BBs and testing the normal CO2 version the replica in a room at 25 ºC, it will reach between 430 and 450 FPS and, however, if we opt for CO2 High Speed version, in which they have changed the nozzle for a more precise one, the power can go up to over 600 FPS. While in the top gas version it will be around 390 and 420 FPS. In terms of grouping, APS tests achieve a grouping of 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) at 10 meters, and when they double the distance to 20 meters, the grouping spreads to 1.5 inches (3.81 cm).

Conclusion

In short, a highly customisable sniper rifle with which you can create the version that best fits your physiognomy and game mode. Because APS has confessed (Spoiler alert!) that they will soon market conversion kits, pre-assembled sets of gas bolts with external barrels, so that players who have already purchased the spring version can also enjoy the benefits of the top gas and CO2 versions.
