What is value? It is a quality by which a person or thing is appreciated or well regarded. This way, a player will be highly valuable if he tries his best not to let his team down in a game; or a replica will have great value to its owner if it res like no other replica previously tested.

Avalon, VFC's older sister, launches a top-end replica. From the highquality Crusader accessories such as the tactical body controls or the rifde strap holder, to the internal parts which include, among other, the new ECS gearbox and Maple Leaf rubber.

For the motoring world lovers we will make the same comparison this manufacturer likes to make: if VFC is a Mercedes-Benz in the airsoft world, Avalon would be the AMG range. The top of the range.

The Avalon series is divided into two models: Carbine and CQB, which are distinguished by their length: 9" and 14.5" respectively. Although both come in rigid carrying cases. At the moment it is only available in black, but chances are it will soon be released in bronze Calibur series colour too.

The hand guard carries the M-Lok system developed by Magpul as an evolution from MOE Slot System launched in 2007. It has slots in the 4-axis where we can attach the rails without removing the hand guard.

The design of the muzzle is based on the Bulgarian AK74 SU Krinkov, taking advantage of its inside cone-shape to cool the gases before they are mixed with outside air. This design is intended for CQB as it reduces the ashes and recoil. Furthermore, its "crown" nish is intended to break through glass. Although these are all non-practical features in terms of airsoft and are just purely aesthetic characteristics.

The straight triggers are an option that many shooters choose to reduce the trigger-pulling range, while it offers less resistance thanks to lightweight designs such as the one provided by this Avalon replica. This enables a faster response during game play, and we all know what this means: to eliminate the enemy or going back to respawn.

CRUSADER

Crusader is a brand specialising in quality components. This model contains several of those components:

· M4 Ambidextrous Tactical Charging Handle Latch

An element that helps us take advantage of the functional bolt catch.

· M4 rotatable Tactical Sling Swivels

it is not fixed, making the anchoring system of the belt more comfortable.

· M4 extended magazine release.

it facilitates rapid and instinctive reload even with heavy gloves.

The gearbox is a "version 2" with VFC markings on the box. The main peculiarity is that it incorporates an internal mosfet, more effective than a fuse when protecting the electrical system and silver wiring.

The piston is also better protected thanks to the fact that half the teeth are metallic and it has also been reinforced in the side seams of the teeth. The piston head is made of reinforced aluminium for greater durability.

The quick-change system allows us to access the spring and the spring rail (both with metal bearings to facilitate torque) without having to open the whole gearbox. This facilitates maintenance and having the replica ready at optimal speed for each event.

The con guration of the replicas is adapted to the laws of each country, therefore in models under 1J they carry a high speed motor, yet those which exceed such power carry a high torque one, to maximise performance.

It carries a 270 mm barrel, the standard length for CQB models, with an inner diameter of 6.04 mm. Although it has O-ring marks, being such a short model with such a narrow barrel, these are not included. Remember "Saving Private Ryan" (1998)? Then you may recall the famous sniper, Pvt. Daniel Jackson, saying the words engraved on this barrel:

PALM 144:1 Of David:

"Blessed be the LORD my strength which teaches my  hands to war, and my fingers to fight".

It carries a 60º Maple Leaf rubber with a skid pattern design for a better grip on the hop-up chamber. It has longer and thinner lips for better sealing the air when attached to the mouth of the nozzle. It has a triangleshaped protrusion which when pressed by the "Maple Leaf AEG Hop Tensioner" of concave cut makes the BB spiral. All combined makes the BB increases the range by 20-30% regardless of the speed at which our replica is red.

What are the most appreciated features among airsofters when choosing a replica for CQB? Handling, lightness, rate of fire, accuracy, resistance... After testing it during a game we can con rm that all these features are present in this replica.

Although what really surprised us was the ying trajectory of the balls. A replica so compact that with this configuration and this speed (this may vary depending on the legislation of each country) offers a more tense trajectory than usual. And this is largely due to the compression quality generated by the new ECS gearbox and the spiral effect achieved by the Maple Leaf rubber.

Making a comparison with AMG's advertising slogan all we have left to say is: “Avalon. Airsofting performance”.
