FN Herstal is a subsidiary of the Groupe Herstal, whose owners are the U.S. Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) and the Browning Arms Company.

FN Herstal is the parent company of two other companies based in the United States: FN Manufacturing and FNH USA. FN Manufacturing, in Columbia (South Carolina), is in charge of producing designs of FN Herstal in the US, included the firearms’ construction like the machine guns M249 and M240 and the assault rifle M16.

FNH USA, situated in McLean (Virginia), is the company in charge of selling and marketing of FN Herstal in the US territory.
