REVIEW AIM-O SCOPES

They say that there are two lines that you must never cross, the horizontal and the vertical lines of a sniper’s scope. Aim-O is an Asian manufacturer that uses this claim for all types of replicas thanks to its wide range of scopes. Today, we bring you a selection of what it offers: red dots, magnifiers, holographic and telescopic sights. All ready to be mounted in your replicas and help you take down your next target.

The Micro T1 is one of the most popular red dots by Aimpoint, and probably one of the most featured in reference photos by airsofters.

In this case, it has a high base similar to the LT660 by La Rue, with QD coupling for a quick but safe (un)installing. The scope is screwed to the base so you can exchange them with any other compatible ones.

The high base is very comfortable when shouldering an M4, but we actually prefer a lower base for AKs for a more natural shouldering. This can be seen in each model by the height of the RIS to which the sights are located.

To assemble and disassemble it we will have to pull back the cap of the lever to unlock it and release it. It is a simple system but it will prevent the sight from falling off accidentally.

It has 6 positions (5 intensities and off) in both red and green in order to adjust it according to the intensity of the ambient light and the colouring of the environment.

Eotech is probably, together with Aimpoint, one of the most popular brands among airsofters and operators. And one of its flagship models is the XPS3 because of how compact it is and for its performance.

The grid of this sight is a circle with a cross superimposed on the outside and two dots on the inside. In the real model, the central dot marks the targets at a distance between 50 and 200 yards (45-180 m), the lower dot 500 yards (450m) and the base of the circle 7 yards (6 m). Although this is not the same in airsoft due to the difference in terms of ballistics.

It offers several degrees of intensity to adjust to the brightness of our game area. And you can choose between two colours, red and green, with green being almost 6 times more visible during the day (according to the real manufacturer) than red.

The colour and intensity can be adjusted from the buttons on the side, so that carrying an amplifier or a night vision gear will not bother us. Thanks to its greater height it will also allow you to use it in conjunction with metal sights, in order to make sure you have aiming devices at all times.

It has a QD lever system (quick-detach) with a button that acts as a safe to prevent any accidental release. In the same way a small wire secures the lid to avoid it becoming lost while you change the CR123A battery.

The NXS range of products by the manufacturerNightforce is developed with military specifications (Mil-Spec), based on actual battlefield experience. So these sights offer the perfect balance between size, weight and magnification.

This Aim-O replica is a 1-4x24 (although in the battery lid it says 2.5-10x24). This means that the diameter of the lens is 24 mm (although the lens is 30mm which allows an easy and fast shouldering).

And we can regulate the zoom from x1 to x4, which is, in our opinion, the maximum effective range that our airsoft replicas have. In addition, you can rotate the base of the lens to help focus, depending on the distance.

The grid is adjustable, both vertically and horizontally to correct the deflection of the shot. In the lids it reads 1 click · ½ MOA, and each complete turn offers us 75 perfectly regulated clicks. However, you must bear in mind that a "Minute of Angle" (MOA) is an angular measurement that opens 1” for every 100 yards, which is difficult to convert to the metric system in the midst of combat and also the flight of a BB is not as accurate or measurable as that of a bullet, so adjust it at home and apply it to your replica.

There is a a cross grid with 4 dots on each arm to help us calculate possible deviations in the flight of the BB. In addition, the centre of the grid is retro-lit (green and red) with five different intensities.

Together with the T1, it is not uncommon to see the 3xMag magnifier by Aimpoint mounted. In this case the magnifier has a x4 zoom and will be aligned with the T1, although it may be difficult to get used to looking through both scopes.

The base is adjusted to the RIS using a clip that must be tightened with a flat screwdriver.

The sight can be removed without taking it off the base, it has a lever on the outside that will allow you to remove it conveniently from the base. Just put on the lids and it will be ready to store and you can assemble it just as quickly in the same way.

Another option offered by the base of this magnifier is the "flip" of the optics to use the red dot without having to disassemble the magnifier. In the same way, just by returning it to the original position, it will be perfectly aligned once again.

These scopes will save you time when aiming, eliminate the tunnel effect that metallic sights can cause, and will ultimately help you to shoulder the replica to get another kill; a positive result that will keep you away from the respawn. Now it is up to you to choose the model that best suits your replica gun and your way of playing. Do you know which one you’re going to pick yet?
