NEPTUNE 10.5" SAS & 9.5" SEAL

Rossi’s Neptune series consisted of four models that for a while have been the perfect squad due to their variety and performance. But its philosophy is to keep offering more gear, more improvements, more… of everything, and so now the new Rossi Neptune 10.5” SAS and Rossi Neptune 9.5” SEAL are here. These two models join their predecessors to complete a catalogue with technical innovations that improve their performance. We could call them the Neptune 2.0.

The Rossi Neptune 10.5” SAS is inspired by the L119A2 used by the UKSF (or British special forces) since 2014. It is the last evolutionary step after Colt Canada (also known as Diemaco) equipped them in the late 90s with the C8SFW (also known as L119A1), a variant of the C8 used by Canadians, to replace the everlasting L85.

External Parts

These new models are available in both black and a combination of black and tan/bronze, with full-metal body and handguards. Their robustness and solid assembly of the materials provides a sturdy feel and it shows that there is a very well done CNC work in the RIS that can compete in terms of quality with other high-end brands. There are markings on both sides of the replica, on the outside we can see the logo of the trident that represents the Neptune series and the text “Op. Neptune Spear” to honour the men who participated in the operation to capture Osama Bin Laden. It has Rossi's markings on the inside of the replica and the unique serial number of each model.

SINCE 1889

Rossi is a real firearms brand whose history dates back to its founding in 1889 by the Italian gunsmith Amadeo Rossi. And although it has been active for over 130 years, it was just a few years ago that the airsoft branch was created, where they do not replicate their firearms catalogue, they simply do what they do best, give their users products with an unbeatable price-quality.

INTERNAL PARTS

Internally they mount a new and improved V2 gearbox (1) compared to the first Neptune and that still brings some degree of novelty with respect to the later MARSOC Black such as the sealed cylinder (2), the completely metallic spring guide (3) and with bearings to achieve a better torsion of the type M100 spring (4), which can be easily accessed thanks to the quick spring change system. The reinforced piston (5) with all metal teeth and a reinforced piston head made of POM with a bearing (it is basically a material that absorbs impact better than a metal piston head and therefore is more silent) The nozzle (6) is made of aluminium and comes with a gasket. The hop-up chamber is made of yellow polymer and roulette design, type G36; and its precision barrel measures 6.02 mm, and 300 mm in length. The gears (7) are 16:1 to achieve a higher ROF, produced by CNC and rotate on 8 mm bushings and bearings. In addition, it comes with a new programmable electronic trigger (8) which closes a really interesting internal set.

Rossi's Neptune line bears the same name as the US special operations force DEVGRU operation, which killed Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 2, 2011. This mission provided a respite for many Americans who were directly or indirectly affected by the famous terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York on September 11, 2001. The book “No Easy Day” by Mark Owen, tells us about this operation, one of the DEVGRU who participated in the operation, or “The Operator” by Robert O’Neill, the DEVGRU  member who shot and killed the most wanted terrorist in history.
Or we also have the five-time Oscar nominee "Zero Dark Thirty" where Jessica Chastain stars as the CIA agent who discovers the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden.

Conclusion

Rossi updates its catalogue of mid-range replicas with a very good performance these two new very interesting options. And these might just be perfect for you if you are looking for a replica of a model other than the Mk18, as you can opt for the 10.5” SAS (its amazing that they have chosen to offer us a version of the L119A2), or if you are looking for an M4 with a different design but still “tacticool” as is the case of the 9.5” SEAL. Internally it has good quality elements and comes with an electronic trigger as standard, something that always adds up. Our verdict? There will always be something to improve on a replica, but these new Rossi are a great option for the average player looking to enjoy the hobby and most importantly, look really cool on the field.
