BUSHIDÔ, THE “WAY OF THE WARRIOR”

In the Japanese tradition of Bushidô, often translated as “the way of the warrior”, it was a strict and specific code to which many Samurais devoted their lives, and which required them to be loyal and virtuous until their death. At Airsoft we maybe don’t have to take things that far, but we understand what they’re talking about when they say that it’s a game of honour.

Saigo Defense presents us with its new DMR which they have dubbed Meiyo, which we could translate as “honour”, one of the most important virtues of Bushido, because there is only one judge of a real Samurai’s honour, and that is himself.

Within this range of replicas which have been improved both internally and externally, it is the first specialist replica that we see, which is designed and manufactured in order for the most demanding players to be able to enjoy it at a more affordable price.

Features

 - Length: 870-960 mm
 - Weight: 2720 g
 - Material: Metal-Polymer
 - Aluminium flat trigger
 - Magazine: 130 rds
 - FPS: 410-420

New lines

In this model, the handguard and upper receiver are the same part. This makes us think, for example, of classic PTWs. This does not affect the performance of the replica, however it does slightly change the way in which it is disassembled and yet still, it is something mainly aesthetic with which it successfully distances its lines from the classic ones of the AR15 (M4).

Magazine

One thing that stands out in a DMR model is that it uses 5.56 (M4) rather than 7.62 (SR25) type magazines. However, this seems to be a good move as it is more compatible in a game, as well as with magazines, which a player might have from before, meaning that this model scores points. The standard magazine is a 130 BB midcap, whose lines remind us of the PMAG Gen2.

Pistol grip

In the same vein as the magazine, the pistol grip reminds us of the MOE-K2, with its tang features. As well as the non-slip surface which ensures a better grip, the angle of this pistol grip allows the wrist of our shooting hand to be in a more comfortable and relaxed position, meaning that we will be able to stay in the aiming position for longer before showing signs of tiredness.

Ambidextrous controls

It is true that ambidextrous controls are more highly appreciated in assault rifles where it’s more common to change arm. However, left-handed players and those who are sticklers for processes will agree with me in saying that it is something which never goes unnoticed. Just like the functional bolt catch which will allow us to keep the hop-up chamber accessible for adjustment, while giving it a more realistic appearance.

Bushido

Bushido defined the attitude and behaviour of the samurai. In the Tokugawa era, it was transformed into a spiritual discipline and gradually exerted its influence on the ethics of the economic life of the common people. A code of life that is based on seven principles:

GI- Honesty and Justice: For a Samurai there is only right and wrong.

JIN- Compassion: You are stronger than the others, help them.

YU- Heroic Value: Stand up and replace fear with courage.

MEIYO- Honor: A Samurai has only one judge of his own honor.

MAKOTO- Absolute Sincerity: Speaking and doing are the same action.

REI- Courtesy: You do not need to show your strength, respect the enemy.

CHUGI- Duty and Loyalty: True to the code and consistent with the path chosen.

Stock

A tubular stock is assembled in five positions, one of the most comfortable and versatile designs that we have tried. It has a pin for the strap, or a piece of paracord where it can be connected, as well as two QD mounts in the butt pad. By pulling the lever that we find here, we can access the inner space, where, in addition to the classic tube, we can find space for larger batteries.

Conclusions

Not all DMR replicas are 7.62s, and you don’t have to spend a fortune on them to find a high-quality replica. These are two key points that stand out for us after trying the Meiyo by Saigo, another notch on Bushido’s belt. Now we’ve just got the “Makoto” and the “Yin” left to discover. Which one do you think will come first? Who said support replica? Not us.
