PHANTOM EXTREMIX RIFLE MK-XI (PER711)
APS releases its PER MK-XI with the new EDGE II, its new version 2 gearbox with Micro Fet. To avoid confusion, really it’s Edge II because it was Edge I before, which was just called “Edge”, and both are version 2 because it’s the type of gearbox that goes in an M4.
The Phantom saga is the most purely APS line, without more members, without any licences or real benchmarks. Here APS uses everything it knows about Airsoft to offer players a replica that adapts to them in the same way that an F1 car adapts to its driver. And they have been in this sector long enough to be able to keep surprising us with every replica that they release, like this PER MK-XI. Look.

M-Lok Handguard
The Evo Tech handguard is an M-Lok (Modular Locking System). This design for connecting accessories was developed by Magpul Industries and is a more interesting option than the RIS of Picatinny rails (like the one on the top) as it works in negative spaces, reducing the volume and weight of the firearm. APS has permission to use this system, as well as to show off the markings or accessories with this technology such as the Dynamic hand stop (which they launched with the PER MK-VI) or the two MIL-STD-1913 adaptors to be able to connect any accessories that we have up to now.

Lightweight body
As part of the player-centred spirit of the PER series, we come across details to reduce the weight of the rifle such as the milled receiver, generating rather aggressive design lines. Just like in the upper receiver, they do without the cover of the ejection port, which does not affect the protection of the inner parts as it still has the inner plate which emulates recoil of the bolt when pulling on the charging handle.

Sound Amplifier Flash Hider
We’ve already seen this sound amplifier flash hider in the PER MK-VI and it has been dubbed “Sound Blaster Type B”. This design includes outer teeth in the style of the breacher or glass breaker flash hiders, however these are functions that we won’t use very often in Airsoft. But we will manage to change the firing sound by making it more intimidating and easily recognisable. Let them know you’re there!

Advanced pistol grip
It uses the same pistol grip as the PER rifle family. Its front and back parts are made of EVA anti-slip plastic. It is also designed with a shock absorption pattern which reduces the vibration generated when the motor is started, which (according to the brand) relatively improves the operation of the motor and does considerably reduce battery charging at 10.5 amperes.

Ambidextrous design
Both the magazine release and the fire selector or the fire handle are ambidextrous. This is not only interesting for left-handed shooters but also for right-handers used to making shoulder changes, as it is still fully useful.

CONCLUSION
APS strives to bring us new operating systems, first with the GBB G.Box and now it has updated its star gearbox for its AEG line with this EDGE II. And it does so within its own line, the PER saga, although we imagine that it will also implement this in other models with licences produced. The PER 711 is in line with this family, focused on the efficiency of use together with an elegant aesthetic touch drawn from all the current market trends. Do you dare to try it?
