UMAREX BERETTA PMX
The Beretta PMX that reaches us from Umarex, in collaboration with the Taiwanese KWA factory, has the official licences to make it one of the most interesting replicas in the strictest and most literal sense. This model is the successor to the Beretta M12, which the old-timers will remember in the hands of the Italian police in action films from the 1970s and 80s and anyone who has travelled to Italy might have seen it in person. The PMX didn’t come out until 2017 and as for the GBB replica, Umarex announced this at IWA 2023.

Compact and lightweight
This Beretta 9 mm automatic rifle replica is very compact, measuring 637 mm which, thanks to its folding stock, can become 418 mm. Its polymer and fibre glass structure makes it very lightweight at just 2.5 kg. These measurements are the same as in the real model and mean it is really handy for using in CQB and for transporting it to the gaming field.

Accessories
It comes with a built-in vertical grip which is assembled as standard on the Picatinny Rail at the bottom part of the handguard. It also has rails on both sides and one on the top part where we will find detachable, folding sights. We have liked these because when folded, they offer us a three-point aiming system which is similar to that of pistols.

Fire
When firing it, we notice a very short and smooth firing movement in which we barely feel the pressure point at which the bb is fired. We used a stopwatch to measure 0.20 g bbs in a room at 20ºC, and got an average of 330 FPS with a gas 203 PSI and 300 FPS with a gas 110 PSI. The result obviously varies according to room temperature, bb weight and gas pressure, which is the case for all gas replicas on the market. The blowback isn’t the strongest one we’ve tested, but this is partly because it doesn’t have the counterweight that we normally find inside the stock tube of M4-type GBBs, which increases the feeling of recoil.

Ambidextrous
It is really handy to use thanks to its ambidextrous controls: fire selector and magazine release, and the detail of the interchangeable charging handle. This makes it easier for us if we’re left-handed or switchers (meaning we change the grip hand as required by the game).

Magazine
The magazine has a capacity for 48 bbs, unlike the 30 rounds that can be held by the real firearm. The good thing is that, although it’s different, it’s compatible with KSC/KWA MP9/TP9 GBB magazines.

Hop-Up
By blocking the bolt behind, we will be able to put our finger through the ejection port and feel the regulated teeth of the hop-up around the muzzle of the barrel. This will turn easily but we will feel the clicks of each position. We will also see that the positions are numbered, meaning it is handier to regulate.
Disassembly
Disassembly is similar to the real firearm and is really straightforward. By pushing the receiver pin, which is connected to the body so that we don’t lose it, we can separate the top and bottom parts. And we can see that the parts affected most when in operation are made of steel, while the other parts are aluminium, which helps make the model more lightweight.
Conclusion
This model isn’t seen very often on the gaming field, but it is a replica which is very faithful to the real model and on top of that, its performance is amazing. But what else could be expected? Beretta is one of the greatest firearm manufacturers and Umarex doesn’t disappoint with its replicas either. All in all, this is a great option for lovers of realism and anyone looking for top performance in close combat.
