ROSSI NEPTUNE 10.5"
SAS BLACK & BRONZE
The model was already interesting before. A similar format to the M4, inspired by a real UK special forces model. But these new Neptune SAS replicas by Rossi include some aesthetic improvements such as the stock, magazine, sights and handguard, as well as others which are more practical, like the new version 3 programmable electronic trigger (ETU). Because from what we can see, Rossi thinks that even if a replica is really interesting straight out the box, there is still room for improvement.
Rossi Neptune 10.5” SAS
The Rossi Neptune 10.5” SAS is inspired by the L119A2 used by the UKSF (or British special forces) since 2014. It is the last evolutionary step after Colt Canada (also known as Diemaco) equipped them in the late 90s with the C8SFW (also known as L119A1), a variant of the C8 used by Canadians, to replace the everlasting L85.
Materials
These new models are available in both black and a combination of black and tan/bronze, with full-metal body and handguards. Their robustness and solid assembly of the materials provides a sturdy feel and it shows that there is a very well done CNC work in the RIS that can compete in terms of quality with other high-end brands.
Markings
There are markings on both sides of the replica, on the outside we can see the logo of the trident that represents the Neptune series and the text “Op. Neptune Spear” to honour the men who participated in the operation to capture Osama Bin Laden. It has Rossi's markings on the inside of the replica and the unique serial number of each model.
01. Gearbox
It comes with a version 2 Gearbox with steel gears, without markings, which revolve around 8 mm bearings.
02. Quick change spring
With the quick change spring system, we can easily access the metal spring guide with bearings to help the spring twist properly, and the M90 type spring.
03. Piston
The piston has full metal teeth made of steel and the piston head is polymer with bearings to help with spring tension, offering a tight seal in the cylinder.
04. Cylinder
The cylinder is made of polished aluminium, it has a hole to adjust volume and the head is polymer. However, the nozzle is made of aluminium and has a sealed o-ring.
05. Electronic Trigger Unit
Version 3 programmable electronic trigger. We will be able to configure the type of fire of the replica using the fire selector in auto and semi modes, as well as the sensitivity of the trigger, precocking system and activate or deactivate active braking.
06. Precision barrel
The barrel, made of brass, is 290 mm long and has an inner diameter of 6.02 mm. The hop-up is G36 type transverse rotary and is made of yellow polymer.
CONCLUSIONS
We already liked the model, but after trying this new version, we’ve fallen in love with its new programmable electronic trigger. First and foremost, because of its sensitivity: you don’t have to fire, you just think about doing so and the replica fires itself. Also because of the different possibilities we have when programming it, as we can choose from different modes such as: “sniper” with delay between fires, “AUG” with semi at the start of trigger movement and auto at the end, or “double tap” which fires once when we press the trigger and again when we release it. Ultimately, these elements mean that instead of having one replica, you can prepare lots of versions that are really different from one another. What do you want to play today?
