Urban Individual Combat

Most technical articles have focused on team play, but the reality in airsoft is that on more than one occasion you will find yourself “alone facing danger”, and that is where your own abilities, experience, and the technique acquired over the years make the difference in the unpredictable and paradoxical urban scenarios.
Urban combat is characterized by reducing the differences between players’ levels and capabilities, since anyone can hide behind a corner or wait for you behind a barricade.
For this reason, in this article we will provide some basic guidelines on how to act in certain situations and tilt the balance in favor of the better-prepared player. The rest will depend on the unpredictable course of combat.
May your opponent’s shadow see the light long before your own!

Movement
You must always keep the maximum number of angles covered. Think of a square: front, rear, and sides. The more angles you have covered, the fewer sectors you will need to monitor. Therefore, when advancing, always stay close to a wall. In this way, assuming you have “cleared” the area behind you, you can focus your attention on one flank and the frontal area.

01
Before moving, and if possible, look for elevated positions from which you can observe your intended route and possible enemy positions.

02
Look for the best positions to move to, among which stand out: Shadowed areas, interiors of buildings, or spaces that allow movement between cover.

03
Your movements must adapt to the situation: in open areas without cover, they should be very fast to avoid presenting a target (a), while in covered areas they should be more controlled, seeking firing positions or enemies (b).

04
Whenever you advance, you must identify fallback points in case you need to retrace your steps. This way, in a sudden retreat, you will instinctively know where to move to counter an enemy with superior position or fire advantage.

05
If possible, never enter or exit through doors or windows. Movement should be done through less obvious points. Everyone expects their enemy aiming directly at the doorway - use that to your advantage.

06
Use logic: move crouched below windows, avoid passing in front of doors whenever possible, and minimize sprinting between cover, since the faster you move, the less awareness you will have of your surroundings.

Combat
01
Always choose elevated positions, as this ensures greater range, better shooting angles, and a visual advantage over your opponent.

02
Your firing positions must allow you to observe the maximum possible area of the field to control enemy actions. Not seeing your enemy’s movements is playing into an ambush.

03
Do not use obvious firing points such as doors or windows. Instead, look for holes or openings in walls or cover.
04
Blend into the environment, using shadowed areas or elements such as debris for cover or concealment.

05
Use prone positions to present the smallest possible target. The opponent will always look for targets at eye level, never below.

06
Do not reveal your position until the moment of shooting. If you remain hidden and still, the opponent will not notice your presence until they are within your firing range.

07
Look for positions inside buildings, taking advantage of covering the four angles mentioned during movement.

08
Never expose your body or replica outside a window, door, or firing position. You must always remain inside the open firing space. Showing yourself through a window will only make things easier for your opponent.
