The time has come, you relax the neck, the arms and your fingers move slightly ... your hand drops to the waist, pulls out the gun and, as if it was part of a dance, you have already shot all targets before the music stops.

The new version of the Dragonfly has been included in the XTP (XTREME TRAINING PISTOL) series of APS pistols. This is the last series that APS has released to the market. Since it launched the ACP in 2012, eight years have gone by where they have continued to develop their secondary line. And how can all this experience and knowledge be summed up? Well, in the XTP series that is the new generation for 2020.

01 Fibre Optic Sights

The sights are made of optic fibre in different colours to quickly align the red dot between the green ones. Furthermore, since they are made of optic fibre they will be highly visible under any light making aiming easier.

02 Competition trigger

It has a straight trigger, a feature of models such as SAI. This will help us to have less travel and to be able to fire continually or perform a double tap much faster, something which if we play AIPSC or CQB at full speed will be very useful.

03 Lightweight slide

The lightweight design of the slide has openings in the front showing the inner barrel in the style of Salient Arms models. It has a slide cover with the logo of the model that we can change for other APS' models.

As if this were not enough, this new version has had the colour of the top of the slide changed and it is black unlike the previous model, which was completely in silver.

04 Modified safety

The position in which APS had placed the safety seemed a bit strange to us at the beginning, but once you get used to it, it is very easy and intuitive to be able to lock it on or off with the support hand when shouldering the pistol itself...

05 Quality stippling

Stippling is an abrasion process made by some operators in their guns, it can be seen throughout the whole gun, and makes the replica slip-resistant.

It is found not only in the grip panels, but also in several areas around the trigger so that we can comfortably and safely rest our finger reducing any risk of slipping. Something that has caught our attention is the quality with which they have managed to do it, so much so that we do not know if they have done using a mould or by hand!

CO2 or Gas

The model is compatible with gas and CO2, which in both cases holds a 23 BBs magazine. The difference between the gas and the CO2 tank is evident, and yet the performance we achieve with the gas is higher than what would be achieved with other brands.

And, since it is as a more stable option in changing weather conditions, we prefer the CO2 option.

Conclusions

A truly impressive model with the touch of the stimpling finish which we mentioned earlier, a detail that contributes significantly to it. This new Dragonfly model included in the XTP hand gun series by APS is undoubtedly a model to be taken into account both by AIPSC and CQB players thanks the to the great performance it offers.
